Jay Luchs

Jay Luchs, an Executive Vice Chairman at Newmark, may be best recognized for his “For Lease” and “Leased” signs on buildings throughout the streets of Los Angeles, but his range in the industry includes representing some of the world’s most notable fashion brands for their retail and office locations, entertainment companies and other businesses in finding their corporate headquarters and for selling investment properties. He takes pride in spending as much of his energy working with small retail brands as on larger deals as the landscape of Los Angeles is very important to him. Being a part of its continuing growth and change while preserving the great history and soul of LA is a top priority for Luchs. 

Luchs has represented LVMH in many of their purchases on Rodeo Drive including the Luxe Hotel which will become the future Tiffany & Co flagship and 456-468 N Rodeo Drive assemblage which will become the Louis Vuitton flagship retail location for the west coast. It will be one of their largest stores in the world. Luchs has also been involved with various other sales on Rodeo Drive and elsewhere in LA.

Some of the brands Luchs represents in Los Angeles include Louis Vuitton, Christian DiorCelineLoewe, Givenchy, Brunello Cucinelli, KITH for their West Coast locations (Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Cross Creek Ranch in Malibu) and James Perse (nationally) among many other leaders in the fashion industry. Other brands Luchs has found retail locations for in recent years include Acne Studios, Supreme, SKIMS, RH, Aviator Nation, and many other fashion brands. Luchs has also represented Equinox Fitness on several other Los Angeles locations.

Luchs takes pride in being a part of building brands’ locations early on and in some cases did first stores for ones that have become globally recognizable names including doing Alo Yoga’s first store which was in Beverly Hills and found James Perse his first retail location on Melrose Avenue many years ago.

Luchs also specializes in finding office locations for various fashion brands and entertainment companies. He has found West Coast office headquarters for companies including Louis VuittonChristian DiorCelineTom Ford, Brunello Cucinelli, H&M, Kitson, Christian LouboutinSTAUDSaint Laurent and others. 

He is also tied into the local art community in Los Angeles and has sold artist Alex Israel several buildings for his studio/office. He also leased spaces to Perrotin Gallery, Marian Goodman Gallery, United Talent Agency’s Art Gallery off Civic Center Drive in Beverly Hills and has been involved in representing Gagosian Gallery on some of its projects.

Luchs loves the food culture of Los Angeles and sincerely enjoys finding restaurant operators their locations in the city whether mom and pop businesses to the fanciest dining all play a part in the landscape of the city. Luchs spends a lot of time strategizing with these restaurants. Some restaurants Luchs has found locations for include Craig’s on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, Avra in Beverly Hills, and has represented MadeoPrince Street Pizza, Clark’s Oyster Bar, Pura Vida Miami, and Carla Café’s Los Angeles expansion among many others.

Aside from representing brands and corporations in finding locations, Luchs and his team also represent over 125 properties for various landlords throughout Los Angeles including from Beverly Hills to West Hollywood, Brentwood to Malibu, Venice Beach to Manhattan Beach, and recently has done some deals in Montecito in the Santa Barbara area. Luchs also has a small and landlord and tenant representation presence in New York City.

Luchs says he couldn't do it without his amazing team, which he is incredibly grateful for. He has been a top producer at Newmark internationally from 2014 to present day 2026 having closed several billion dollars of leases and property sales transactions. 

Luchs is from Potomac, Maryland and a graduate of the University of Virginia class of '95. He has proudly lived in Los Angeles since 1995.
